Duration and Timing of Akhand Path Sahib

Duration:

Akhand Path Sahib typically takes 48 hours to complete, as the reading continues day and night without any breaks. The recitation is conducted in shifts by readers to ensure continuity.

Timing:

Akhand Path usually starts in the early morning and concludes exactly two days later, at around the same time it began. This completion time is considered auspicious, and the final verses are often read during the morning of the second day, followed by a prayer (Ardas).

Langar

  • Langar is a crucial part of Akhand Path Sahib, symbolizing the spirit of service and humility. During the 48-hour period, langar is prepared and served to the congregation, providing food to all attendees regardless of background.
  • At the conclusion of the Path, langar is organized as a celebratory and sacred meal, where everyone present shares a meal together in equality and respect.
